Background & Family Life
Doug Williams was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where he developed a deep love for the outdoors and family life. After attending the University of Oklahoma, Doug ventured into the financial industry, starting his career in New York. However, his Texas roots called him back home, where he joined Edward Jones before taking a brief detour to pursue a passion for welding. Eventually, Doug found his way to Retirement Planners of America, where he felt he could make a lasting impact.
Doug is a proud father of three daughters. Together, they share a love for cooking, spending time outdoors, and enjoying activities like hiking and trips to the beach. For Doug, family is the foundation of everything, and it’s this strong connection that shapes both his personal and professional life.
Business Philosophy
With over two decades of experience in the financial industry, Doug has witnessed firsthand the struggles retirees face when their hard-earned assets are at risk. Since starting in the business in 1997, he has seen retirees in his own family, as well as clients, watch their savings diminish in bear markets. He firmly believes that asset allocation alone isn’t enough to safeguard a retiree’s financial future—it takes a well-planned strategy to protect assets and create sustainable income.
Doug’s personal experiences, including watching his parents and grandparents navigate healthcare costs and the challenges of down markets, are what motivated him to enter the financial industry. They also shaped his dedication to helping retirees avoid similar struggles. His goal is to provide clients with peace of mind through strategies that not only protect their assets but also support them through life’s uncertainties.
